As 2015 Economics Ph.D.’s Graduate, A Large Entering Graduate Class Has Accepted Its Offers

Six students who defended their Ph.D. dissertations in recent months will receive their Ph.D.’s from Brown at this year’s commencement, while a record number of students have accepted offers to enter the Economics graduate program in September 2015. Graduating students are launching their careers with positions at U.S. and foreign universities and in government and industry.

Econonmics PhD Graduation This year’s Ph.D. students were offered positions at (among other places) Boston University, Paris School of Economics, National Taipei University, the German Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy, the Central Bank of Colombia, and Amazon.com.

Meanwhile, an unexpectedly high proportion of students offered admission to graduate study in economics at Brown has accepted their offers, suggesting increasingly favorable perceptions of the department’s strengths and of its attractive research environment.  The new acceptances will make for an entering class size of 23.  The number of students currently in the Ph.D. program in economics is 74.
