This will be the sixth biennial meeting of the Social Dilemmas Working Group founded by the late Nobel Laureate Elinor (“Lin”) Ostrom and collaborators in 2003.  The group has met at five different sites, most recently California Institute of Technology in 2013.  Participants, drawn mostly from economics but also from political science, sociology, psychology, and ecology, study social dilemma problems including public goods provision and protection of common pool resources, primarily using laboratory and field experiments guided by economic and behavioral theories. Long-time Ostrom collaborator James Walker will lead a discussion of the group’s history and future at the conference dinner on May 15. Walker, Brown’s Pedro Dal Bó, Rice University’s Rick Wilson (an Ostrom student and recent American Journal of Political Science editor), and Brown’s Louis Putterman (who has attended and presented papers at each of the group’s five previous meetings) are co-organizing this year’s conference.  For the conference program and links to papers, click here
