Pre-Doctoral Research Associate, Global Linkages Lab
The Department of Economics seeks a candidate for one year, full time, pre-doctoral Research associate appointment in economics. The pre-doctoral RA will be mentored by the Economics faculty member, Sebnem Kalemli-Ozcan, as part of the “Global Linkages Lab". The Lab features a data center connecting firm outcomes like employment, investment and profits, and their financing via local lenders and global investors at the same time linking to their supply chain partners. The candidate will work on individual and collaborative projects as a research assistant. The appointment has an expected term of at least one year starting September 1, 2025. Reappointment to a second year is possible, contingent on performance, need, and availability of funding.
Requirements for the position include an undergraduate degree with a strong quantitative course background, the ability to take initiative and work independently, an interest in pursuing a research career in economics, strong technical skills including in scientific computing, and a willingness to collaborate and contribute to the Economics faculty member’s research. Knowledge of statistical programs that are used to deal with large datasets such as SQL, R, Stata, Python, Matlab is preferred, Experience working with large micro datasets is important.

Post-Doctoral Research Associate, Global Linkages Lab
The Global Linkages Lab at Brown University (GLL) is seeking a postdoctoral research associate for a one-year appointment, with the possibility of renewal for a second year based on performance, need, and availability of funds, to join a diverse community of scholars committed to studying globalization. The postdoctoral research associate will participate in collaborative research activities with our affiliated faculty on trade and financial linkages and international transmission of monetary and fiscal policies. The postdoctoral research associate will also teach one course in the PhD program.
Applicants should have a substantive interest in macro, finance, and trade.
We are particularly interested in scholars with expertise in using micro data to answer macro questions. Established access to US census data and credit registry data from central banks including the Federal Reserve is a plus. The postdoctoral research associate will receive mentorship and training from a faculty sponsor, primarily through an active research apprenticeship and collaboration.
Candidates must have a PhD in Economics and/or Finance in hand by the effective start date of the position on September 1, 2025. Candidates should have strong econometric skills, and extensive experience working with large micro data sets. Candidates should also hold a substantial command of the international macro and finance literature including knowledge of the key general equilibrium models and solution methods.
