John has been a Professor in the Economics Department since 2015. He holds a joint appointment with the Watson Institute and is a PSTC Affiliate at the Populations Studies Training Center, a Research Associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research, and founding co-director of Opportunity Insights at Harvard University. John’s research interests include public economics and political economy.

Brian Knight will serve as Vice-Chair of the Economics Department. Kareen Rozen will serve as the Director of the Undergraduate Program, Pascal Michaillat will serve as the Director of the Graduate Program for the fall term and Emily Oster will serve as the Director of the Graduate Program for the spring term.
