Undergraduate Teaching Assistants win Baker and Emery Fellowships

Two graduating senior concentrators, Mira Dumbalska and Sukrit Jain, have been selected to receive the Baker and Emory Fellowships in support of their graduate studies. Both students have worked as undergraduate teaching assistants for economics courses, have served as Meikeljohn advisors, and exhibited leadership in other roles.  

The Economics Department is proud to announce that two of its undergraduate senior concentrators, Tsvetomira (Mira) Dumbalska ’16 and Sukrit Jain ’16, have won the Baker and Emery Fellowships this year to support their upcoming graduate studies. Both fellowships are awarded on the basis of scholarly achievement as well as excellence of character and leadership. 

Mira Dumbalska ’16 will be attending the MSc/PhD Experimental Psychology program at the University of Oxford in the UK, having double concentrated with Psychology. She is an honors student in the department and has exhibited excellence of character through her roles as a Meikeljohn and an undergraduate teaching assistant for Investments I (Econ 1710).

Sukrit Jain ’16 will be attending medical school at the Brown’s Warren Alpert Medical School, having double concentrated with Health and Human Biology. He has shown great leadership within the department and a dedication to teaching his peers both in his long-standing roles as a Meikeljohn and as an undergraduate teaching assistant for Principles of Economics (Econ 0110).
